Voice Usage Charging supports both Online and Offline modes, providing flexibility for charging voice usage across various scenarios. This service covers all types of voice usage, including Mobile Originated (MO), Call Forwarding (CF), and Mobile Terminated (MT), regardless of whether it occurs in the home network or during national/international roaming.

Key features of the Voice Usage Charging service include:

  1. Online and Offline Charging Modes: In Online mode, voice usage is charged using Session Charging with Unit Reservation (SCUR). This mode allows for real-time charging and immediate reservation of units for the ongoing session. The reserved units are deducted from the subscriber’s balance as the session progresses, ensuring accurate and up-to-date charging. In Offline mode, voice usage is charged using the Immediate Event Charging (IEC) method. This mode allows for charging based on event records collected and processed periodically. While real-time charging is unavailable in Offline mode, it provides an efficient approach for charging voice usage when immediate charging is not required or feasible.

  2. Support for All Voice Usage Types: The service supports all types of voice usage, including Mobile Originated (MO), Call Forwarding (CF), and Mobile Terminated (MT) calls, ensuring comprehensive coverage for voice communication in home network and national/international roaming scenarios.

  3. Handling Long Calls: The service supports handling long calls that span multiple Mobile Switching Center (MSC) closing intervals of the Call Detail Record (CDR) file. In such cases, where a single call extends beyond the boundaries of a single MSC closing interval, the service ensures accurate and comprehensive charging. The service implements the assembling of Partial CDRs, capturing and aggregating the relevant usage information from each partial CDR generated during the call. This allows for the accurate calculation and billing of the total duration and charges associated with the long call.
