Discounts
Discount services provide the capability to apply discounts to certain types of usage, such as calls to off-net destinations, helping businesses offer promotional incentives and enhance customer satisfaction. These discounts can be configured based on different criteria to meet specific business requirements.
One type of discount available is the Absolute Discount, where a fixed amount is deducted from the rated event. This discount is applied directly to the rated event, reducing the billed amount by the specified discount value. Businesses can configure the minimum and maximum thresholds for the rated amount to ensure the discount is only applied when usage falls within the desired range.
Another type of discount is the Percentage Discount, which applies a percentage reduction to the rated event. With this discount, businesses can configure the minimum and maximum thresholds for the rated amount, ensuring that the discount is only applied when the usage meets the specified criteria. Additionally, the discount percentage can be defined to determine the percentage by which the rated amount will be discounted.
Both absolute and percentage discounts can be limited to a specific period from the first usage; see Absolute Time Discount and Percentage Time Discount. Businesses can configure the validity time of the discount application, such as one hour, till the end of the day, two days till the end of the week, or until the end of the billing cycle. This allows businesses to create time-limited promotions and effectively manage the duration of the discount period.
Furthermore, businesses can configure additional discount parameters, including the minimum and maximum amounts of the applied discount. This ensures the discount remains within acceptable bounds and avoids excessive or insufficient discount amounts.
Depending on the specific requirements, businesses can choose whether the discount is applied directly to the rated event or a new discount event is created. Applying the discount to the rated event directly reduces the billed amount, while creating a new discount event allows for separate tracking and reporting of the discount.
